六、写作:
As we can see in the picture, an old man falls down on the street, but no one offers help to him. The passers-by fear that they will be mistaked for the trouble maker.
The picture reflects that many people are not willing to help the old who fall down on the street. Several factors may contribute to this phenomenon. Some people refuse to help the old because they don’t think they can give the old correct medical care due to a lack of professional skills. Another major reason is that they are afraid of being charged with knocking him or her down and getting themselves into trouble if they help the old.
As for me, we should help the old who fall down on the street. As we all know, it is a traditional Chinese virtue to show respect for and take good care of the old. If we come across an old person who falls down on the street, we can lend him or her a helping hand by calling the medical care centre. I hope there will be less indifference and more warmth in our society.

M: Yes, madam, if I can.
W: Fine. You finished high school a year ago. Why didn’t you go to college that year?
M: Well, I have a sister in college now, and there will be another one next year. So, I have to make a little money for us.
W: Good!It seems that you are a good young man. By the way, what’s your best lesson in high school?
M: Physics. I really enjoy it.
W: That’s fine. Have you discussed this with your parents?
M: Oh, sure. My parents said I should decide it myself.
W: OK, you can work here, but you’d better go to college if you have a chance. Good luck, young man!
M: Thank you, madam! Good-bye.
(Text 8)
W: Now, Mr. Martin. I’ve just read your own doctor’s report. So you haven’t been feeling very well lately, is that right?
M: It’s…it’s my leg, doctor. My right leg. I keep getting a strange pain in it.
W: Could you tell me what the pain is like?
M: It’s like… like boiling water running down my leg. It’s been getting worse lately, too. I’ve been losing sleep.
W: You mean the pain’s been keeping you awake?
M: Yes, that’s right. It’s been keeping me awake.
W: Now, tell me, how long have you had this trouble?
M: The pain? For about a year now.
W: Hmm… Have you been getting tired lately after you have had a walk? For example, have you been getting a big short of breath, perhaps?
M: Why, yes! Yes, I have, doctor!
W: Hmm…I think we’d better give you a few tests here in the hospital.
M: Do you think it’s serious, doctor?
W: Probably not. But… Doctor Cook, my local doctor, thinks it’s only that I’ve been working too hard lately.
W: That could be the reason. Don’t worry, we’ll find out soon.
(Text 9)
W: Why do we have to walk to the station? And where is it?
M: It’s just down that road. . . I think.
W: Look! There’s a policeman! Ask him the way.
M: All right. I’ll go and ask him.
