  Children’s ideals often conflict with their parents’ expectation because of their differences in mind, traditional patriarchy and children’s desire for independence. To solve this, parents should allow children to make their own decisions and communicate more.
After reading the passage, I think the author is a considerate father. I quite agree with him because his analysis of the problem and suggestions to parents are reasonable and acceptable.
Such conflict also exists in my family. My parents want me to become a useful doctor. They often say that the family would have less worry about being sick if I were a doctor. However, I like children and I want to become a teacher.
Now I begin to understand my parents. As children, we should respect our parents’ advice since they have more life experience. Besides, we should learn to communicate with them and let them know about our interest. As long as we put ourselves in each other’s shoes, the conflict between us can be avoided.
