听力材料
1.
W: Did you have a nice weekend?
M: Yes. My brother and I played basketball on Saturday, and then we went to the movies. On Sunday I visited my friends.
2.
M: I knew Laurie played the piano, but I didn't know she played the guitar.
W: Neither did I. It seems she picked it up on her own over the summer.
3.
W: Excuse me, is there a church near here?
M: Sure. Go one block and turn right. You will find it next to a hospital on your left.
W: Thank you.
4.
M: Would you like to go to the grocery store for me?
W: I'm sorry but I'm too busy. Besides, you can order your groceries through the Internet and save you a lot of time.
5.
M: I know what to get Mom for Mother's Day.
W: A computer?
M: No, even better. A dog.
W: That's a bad idea. Look outside. It's snowing. Do you think she wants to walk a dog in the snow?
6.
W: Goodbye, darling! Good luck with the interview.
M: Thanks. I hope the trains are running on time. If the trains are delayed, I'll get a taxi. I don't want to be late.
W: Well, phone me when you can.
M: I will. As soon as I come out of the interview, I'll give you a ring. What are you doing today?
W: When I get to the office,I will look in my diary. I don't think I;m doing much today.
M: Don't forget to pick up the children as soon as you get back from work.
W: I won't.
7.

8.
M: How long did you live in the States?
W: We were there for 2 years, in New York. We had a wonderful time there. What we liked best was that we could work and yet still lead a normal life. I mean, the shops are open still 10:00, such as food shops ,chemists. And some supermarkets are open 24 hours a day. Most shops don't open as early as in England. They don't open until about 10:00 in the morning.
M: Did you make any friends?
W: Well, that what's interesting. We made more friends in our two years there than we have after two years of living back here in London. I think Americans are more open. They speak their minds directly. Not like the British, who might think one thing and say another. So maybe the British are ruder than Americans.
9.
W: Yeah, the traffic was terrible, and the weather, in took me ages to get here. I'll just put my umbrella in the corner, shall I? Anyway I'm sorry I'm late.
M: Well, I'm glad you got here in the end. Now, we should probably get going as fast as we can, because I have got another interview at 12:00. Why do you want to work for us?
W: Well, I'm a bit bored where I'm working at the moment, so I'd really like a change. Your company is bigger, and the salary is a lot better than the job I've got. Also, I like the unfixed working hours, because I find it really hard to get up in the morning!
M: And where do you want to be in 5 years' time?
W: Australia, I hope! I'm planning to stay in Britain for a year or two, but to be honest I really want to move somewhere hot and sunny.
